Ontario Regulation 369/09 — Power-Assisted Bicycles · Province of Ontario
§The Law
O. Reg 369/09 s.2(e) — Ontario Regulation 369/09 — Power-Assisted Bicycles
“The motor of a power-assisted bicycle must disengage when the rider stops pedalling, when the brakes are applied, and when the accelerator is released.”
View official regulation text✓Plain English
Three separate cutout triggers are required: the motor must stop when you stop pedalling, when you apply the brakes, and when you release the throttle or accelerator. E-bikes that only have throttle-and-go operation without a pedal-off cutout fail this requirement.
