Regulatory Requirements

⚠️ MTO Inspection Warning

MTO inspectors verify all required markings during annual school bus safety inspections. Non-compliant operator name, bus ID, or missing accessibility symbols can result in the bus being taken out of service until corrections are made. Fines range from $400 to $2,000.

Frequently Asked Questions

Per O.Reg 612 under the HTA and CSA D250, school buses must display "SCHOOL BUS" in letters at least 200mm (8 inches) high on front and rear, the operator name at minimum 50mm (2 inches), and the bus identification number at minimum 100mm (4 inches).
